Apply for Presenting at the Hands-On-Experience
Tuesday, June 10
10:00–13:30
Overview of Education Track 1: Hands-On Experience
- This session is designed to cover the following topics:
- “Stem cell-derived models for regenerative medicine and drug testing”
- “Immune-competent systems for drug testing and disease modeling”
- “Microengineered vascular systems for drug testing and disease modeling”
- “Microphysiological systems for studying tissue barriers and drug metabolism”
- Each hands-on session will be 25 minutes in duration, specifically tailored to engage the broad audience of young international students and trainees, including PhD students, Postdocs, and more. It will involve approximately 15 minutes of constructive discussion around MPS technology and its applications, making each session a total of 40 minutes.
- To facilitate these discussions effectively, each speaker will present to a limited number of young scientists, typically 10 attendees.
- We anticipate having several tables and concurrent sessions, with the exact number to be determined. We encourage speakers to apply for multiple sessions if their content aligns with different topics.
- Attendees will rotate between the sessions, allowing each speaker to present to multiple groups over the course of the 3-hour education and training session. Alternatively, speakers from the same organization may take shifts during the session.
Guidelines for Speakers: Hands-On Experience
- We are seeking speakers who can effectively engage with the younger members of our scientific community to provide updates on the latest technological developments in both academic and private sectors.
- Speaker selection will be based on adherence to the scientific topics, novelty, potential for presenting advantages, as well as the limitations of the technology presented, and the possibility of providing a physical sample or model of the technology.
- Each application will be evaluated by an ad-hoc committee. It’s important to note that presentations with a sole commercial context will be excluded from consideration.
- We strongly emphasize the importance of defining the context of use for each technology or method. Speakers are encouraged to provide a comprehensive overview of where and how their technology or method fits into the broader scientific landscape. Moreover, we encourage a candid discussion of the strengths and limitations of each model presented.
