The European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV) – Best Poster and Best Oral Awards

The European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV) is pleased to announce two awards of 500€ each for young scientists (≤ 35 years old) who will present their research work as the first author at the MPS World Summit Berlin congress. The awards will be given for the best oral presentation and best poster.
To apply for the ESTIV awards, interested candidates must submit the following documents to [email protected] no later than April 30, 2023:
- Abstract as the first author submitted for oral or poster presentation to the MPS World Summit Berlin congress.
- Proof of registration for the MPS World Summit Berlin congress.

Björn Ekwall Memorial Foundation (BEMF) Awards

The Björn Ekwall Memorial Foundation (BEMF) will award up to 2 student travel bursaries of 300€ each, as well as waived registration, to 2 young scientists (≤ 35 years old) presenting their research work as the first author at the MPS World Summit Berlin congress.

Travel Awards
Travel awards were made possible by NCATS R13 grant.
The MPS World Summit 2023 Conference Organizers are pleased to announce several awards for the second MPS World Summit. Please see the description of each award type below. All award amounts are in USD. Travel awards will be paid before travel, while Best Poster and Oral Presentation awards will be granted after the summit.
Student and Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Awards
(SUBMISSION CLOSED)
The Conference Organizers will award up to 20 Student and Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Awards (including waived registration fee). A maximum of 5 will be awarded to domestic (Europe) undergraduate and graduate students and 5 to domestic (Europe) postdoctoral researchers. A maximum of 5 will be awarded to international undergraduate and graduate students and 5 to international postdoctoral researchers. The amounts and award type are summarized in the table below.

Application:
To be considered for a Student or Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Award, applicants must submit the following documents:
- Abstract, as the presenting author, that has been submitted for poster or oral presentation
- Short bio (maximum one page), including educational institution and how the applicant’s research is relevant to microphysiological systems
- Statement outlining the need for travel assistance and why attendance at the Conference will be impactful to the student’s or postdoctoral researcher’s training (half a page)
- A recommendation letter from the student’s advisor or postdoctoral researcher’s supervisor that summarizes why they feel the applicant should receive the award; the letter should also outline the applicant’s research, including relevance to microphysiological systems
- Proof of student or postdoctoral status as of June 2023
Please submit your applications no later than January 31, 2023 to [email protected] with subject line: “MPS World Summit 2023 Student and Postdoc Travel Awards”. Funds will be disbursed late April 2023. Recipients must commit to traveling to the conference upon acceptance of award and submit proof of registration.
Travel Awards for Scientists from Low- and Middle-Income Countries
(SUBMISSION CLOSED)
The Conference Organizers will award up to 10 Travel Awards for Scientists from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (please visit OECD’s website for a list of countries that qualify). Each awardee will receive a $1,200 USD travel award and waived registration fee ($300 USD), for a total award of $1,500 USD.
Application:
To be considered for the Travel Award for Scientists from Low- and Middle-Income Countries, applicants must submit the following documents:
- Abstract, as the presenting author, that has been submitted for poster or oral presentation
- Short bio (maximum one page), including current affiliation and residency confirmation (to demonstrate country affiliation) and explanation of how the applicant’s research is relevant to microphysiological systems
- Statement outlining the need for travel assistance and why attendance at the Conference will be impactful to the scientist’s work (half a page)
- A recommendation letter from the scientist’s supervisor or mentor that summarizes why they feel the applicant should receive the award; the letter should also outline the applicant’s research, including the use of microphysiological systems
Please submit your applications no later than January 31, 2023 to [email protected] with subject line: “MPS World Summit 2023 Travel Awards for Scientists from Low-Income Countries”. Funds will be disbursed early May 2023. Recipients must submit an abstract through the conference system by January 31, 2023 and commit to traveling to the conference upon acceptance of award and submit proof of registration.
Best Poster Presentation Awards – Sponsored by ITB/Roche
The Conference Organizers will give awards for outstanding posters from early career scientists. As of June 26, 2023, early career scientists should fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Active full-time student,
- Younger than 35 years old,
- Or within 5 years after receiving their degree*
*Applicants with extenuating circumstances (e.g. parental leave, military deployment, family medical leave) that caused a lapse in employment for at least one year will be considered pending submission of documentation.
A monetary award of $750 USD, $500 USD, and $250 USD will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place posters, respectively.
Any poster from early career scientists accepted for in person presentation at MPS World Summit 2023 is eligible for the Best Poster Award. Nominees must attend the meeting in person and present the submitted poster. The posters will be judged during the poster session. The winner will be selected based on scientific excellence, innovation, and clarity of the presentation.
The Best Poster Presentation Awards will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on Friday, June 30.
Best Oral Presentation Awards – Sponsored by ITB/Roche
The Conference Organizers will give awards for outstanding oral presentations by early career scientists. As of June 26, 2023, early career scientists should fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Active full-time student,
- Younger than 35 years old,
- Or within 5 years after receiving their degree*
*Applicants with extenuating circumstances (e.g. parental leave, military deployment, family medical leave) that caused a lapse in employment for at least one year will be considered pending submission of documentation.
A monetary award of $1,250 USD, $1,000 USD, and $750 USD will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place presentations, respectively.
Any oral presentation selected from abstract submissions from early career scientists is eligible for the Best Oral Presentation Award. Nominee must attend the meeting in person. Judges will attend nominee’s presentation during their designated scientific session. The winner will be selected based on scientific excellence, innovation and clarity of the presentation.
The Best Oral Presentation Awards will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on Friday, June 30.
